Fundraising Madness!

I have wanted so many times the past 3 days to stop what I am doing and take a break to catch up on all my friends' blogs. When I do make time this week, I will have a lot to read and I am excited to do that! We placed a classified ad in our church bulletin letting people know that we were available to sell stuff on e-b*y for them in exchange for a percentage of the sale to go towards our adoption.

The first week after the ad was placed two families brought us things. I sold a lot of the items on Craigsl*st and a local online resale site for our area. A few items went up on e-b*y and we made about $100! (PRAISE GOD!

As you all know, our family and especially me, were all sick for about 3 weeks. I have felt much better this past week and have been much more productive. I received a phone call a few days ago from a family at our church who wanted to bring some things by for me to sell. When she arrived, I was floored!! There were so many things, yet I knew after evaluating the contents, there was great $$$ potential in the dusty cardboard boxes I had been given! I have enough to keep me busy for weeks (uh, months) to come. I have posted over 100 items on e-b*ay and have sold 17 so far!

After church today, two more families brought more things for us to sell. Again, the things they brought are marketable and we are excited to no end at the great blessings He brought us through church friends!

Finally, I am signing off here to go send the final order in for our Pamp*red Ch*f fundraiser. Even with the crazy economy, we were blessed with over $100 raised for our adoption fund.

I just wanted to share how God is working in our lives. Fundraising and Paperchasing at the same time (and homeschooling and Bookkeeping) is taking a-l-l my time right now, but trust me, I happily walk away from the computer to read books to the kiddos or engage in a lively History discussion with the kiddos. I have done all of this without coffee! (I sure miss my Java) The doctor said the craving would go away. Hmmm, let's see, it has been almost 2 months and I am still C-R-A-V-I-N-G my favorite liquid!

I pray that each of you has a wonderful week! Please remember to pray for Lydia & Abby and their families if you wouldn't mind. Lydia has very little time left her in this world and Abby is going through an awful round of Chemo.

Love you guys!!

This is such a great idea! Would you be willing to share a bit more about the how's?? I've attempted only one time to sell something on e*ay and it was fine, but I could use some tips! Also, tell us what your e*ay seller name is? Maybe there's something there I need... :)

  6. Wow. Wow. Wow. Great fundraising idea with eBay! Hooray!

Sorry you've not been feeling well. I know exactly waht you mean about the paperchasing and homeschooling taking all your time. Throw in fundraising and a cold and all of a sudden you're SUPERWOMAN!

Believe it or not, things will slow down and you'll hardly know what to do. Okay, maybe that's going a bit far- but I am soooo relieved to have documents in India with not more physicals, police checks, notary appointments, phone calls to government officials etc.
